‘The Vampire Diaries’ has always been a story about two brothers. So what ending will the two brothers get? Well if it’s up to them, it’s death. Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder both revealed their ‘perfect ending’ ideas.
“I really think [Stefan] should take off his ring and die with Damon,” Paul Wesley told TVGuide.com. “I think that would be the perfect ending.” Of course, Ian Somerhalder agreed with his hopes. “Just sit on a beach all night drinking Caribbean rum, and when the sun comes up, [share] one last toast, give each other a hug, take off their rings and throw them into the water.”
Okay, let’s be honest — the guys would be drinking bourbon not rum, and Alaric would have to be there, right? Ian also told the site that for him, he thinks that ending is good since they’ve caused so much havoc in everyone’s lives (which, yeah, they have.)
“It would be a really great thing for Damon and Stefan to know that they can no longer cause any more harm to anyone,” Ian added.
Now we know that Ian also thinks that Elena (Nina Dobrev) actually shouldn’t end up with either of the brothers, as he told our sister publication, TVLine, during a set visit. “They don’t deserve the girl. They have each other and to me that bond is far more important than getting the girl,” he said. “I’m very much a fan of humanity and its preservation and its desire to live.” He also pointed out the age gap, saying that Damon is 107 while she’s 18. “That’s the most epic example of robbing the cradle I’ve ever seen in my life. Stefan, not much younger than Damon. They’re already super inappropriate.”
So, do you think the brothers should die in the end? Let us know what you hope for.
