Holy. Moly. Lady Gaga blew us away with her stunning performances of ‘A-Yo’ and ‘Million Reasons’ on ‘SNL’ on Oct. 22, but now we’re seeing it in a whole new light! Her isolated, unedited vocals have been revealed and they’re out of this world! See for yourself, here.
Can we all just take a second to appreciate Lady Gaga, 30? The singer proved once again that she’s more than just a killer fashionista with an explosive personality and amazing dance moves. She also has a powerhouse voice!
On Oct. 27, the isolated vocals (which means just her voice with no instruments, backup singers or editing) from her Saturday Night Live performance on Oct. 22 were revealed to the public, and they really blew us away. First up we watched her sing her new rockabilly jam “A-Yo,” and even while dancing around the stage she managed to bust out some serious vocal runs while staying perfectly on-key.
Next, she sat down at the piano for a soulful rendition of her ballad “Million Reasons.” Her voice boomed through over the light piano, and there wasn’t a single moment where it wasn’t perfect. Toward the end, she even seemed to get emotional and begin to tear up, and still somehow her voice remained clear, on-pitch, and beautiful. What a star!
The dreaded isolated vocals have caused problems for many performers in the past. When Mariah Carey’s tree lighting performance of “All I Want For Christmas” went viral, people couldn’t believe how awful she sounded without any auto-tuning or music behind her. She claimed it was because she couldn’t hear herself, but thank goodness Lady Gaga didn’t have any mishaps like that!
