Uh oh! The Oct. 27 episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ was full of crazy drama. Not only did a familiar face return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, but Catherine put on the pressure and forced Bailey to make a decision about Alex. Read our recap below!
This week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy started with Alex finally getting a trial date. And it was at the courthouse that he met a pregnant woman with mysterious rashes, so he advised her to get them checked out. Then, a familiar face — Leah Murphy — made a surprising return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. But that’s not all.
Later, when Catherine sat down to talk to Bailey about Alex’s ongoing situation, she advised that he be let go from the hospital’s staff. Catherine also told Bailey that she has a tendency to be lenient, and when Bailey tried denying that and reminding her that she was once called “the nazi,” Catherine just mentioned “Benjamin Warren,” and that shut her up. Even worse — Catherine gave Bailey an ultimatum: if Bailey didn’t work on replacing Alex, then she would. Bailey initially struggled with that demand, but once Alex started questioning her abilities as a surgeon and demanding she do more to save a patient (the same one from the courthouse), Bailey reconsidered. As she told Alex, he was starting to “skate on thin ice.” However, after Alex discovered a solution that would help this patient, Bailey fought for him and told Catherine they’re not firing him. Catherine was shockingly okay with that decision, but she said the residency program needs an overhaul because way too many people are needing second chances (Meredith, April Kepner, Ben, Leah, Alex, etc.) — even if that means the change will affect Richard’s standing at the hospital.
Following Amelia’s pregnancy scare, Owen tried talking to her about their future and whether they should try again. He wanted to, but she… well, didn’t. She said they should just enjoy being married and be patient when it comes to having kids. Sadly, that wasn’t what Owen was hoping to hear. But Amelia only said that because she was too afraid to tell him about the baby she lost while living in Los Angeles. She did, however, tell Alex about her son who died 43 minutes after he was born, and then she said how she was “relieved” when her pregnancy test came out negative. Obviously she has a lot of issues — we just hope she shares her feelings with Owen.
Meanwhile, Leah’s return caused some awkwardness for Arizona, as she couldn’t understand why Richard would rehire her after letting her go. But later, Arizona and Leah made peace, so maybe there’s hope for the two of them!
