The Knockout Rounds are well underway on Season 11 of ‘The Voice,’ and it all continues during the Oct. 25 episode. With only two Steals left and such great singers remaining, super talented stars are bound to be eliminated. Follow along with our live blog here!
The first Knockout pair of the night is Bindi Liebowitz and Courtney Harrell from Blake Shelton’s team. Songwriter and background singer, Courtney, who has worked with legendary singers like Beyonce, Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Hudson, shined like a star in her own right own singing, Tina Turner’s soulful,”River Deep Mountain High.” Meanwhile Bindi, who came in as a slight underdog, is took on the classic, “Son Of A Preacher Man”. In the end, Courtney was just too powerful, hitting stunningly powerful high notes bringing coach Blake to his feet and getting his vote. Unfortunately for Bindi, her performance was not strong enough for one of the other coaches to save and she was sent home.
Billy Gilman and Ponciano Seoane from Adam Levine’s team were the next two to face off. Turns out Billy was the youngest person ever to have a Top 40 Country hit and was also nominated for two Grammys before his voice changed in his teens. Now he’s back, with one of the strongest voices in the competition, trying to make it as a pop singer. Billy chose Rachel Platten’s hit “Fight Song”, calling upon his own struggle to make it back to the top.
New father, Pociano, brought his acoustic guitar with him to sing Ed Sheeran’s sweet tune “I See Fire” as he faced the unenviable task of taking down Billy. Could he beat the odds? Sadly no, as Billy showed off the powerful pipes that make him one of the frontrunners on the show. Adam really had no choice but to choose the one time prodigy and we can’t wait to see what he has in store next.
Alicia Keys’ team was up next as Belle Jewel faced off against the always smiling, Christian Cuevas. The truly original Belle, hit it off with guest coach, Tim McGraw, immediately, revealing she had gone to his concert when she was 8-years-old and he had kissed her hand giving her the “best day of her life”. She chose the 1980’s hit, “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House, giving it her own unique nostalgic spin. Meanwhile Christian revealed he used to have Tim’s signature cologne. Awkward? The loveable singer from Orlando chose Luther Vandros’ version of, “Superstar” to win everyone over. Both Tim and Faith Hill were impressed with his “velvety smoothness”.
Miley Cyrus thought Belle was incredible but couldn’t stop talking about feeling like Christian was singing right to her as she fell “madly, deeply in love” while Adam was “obsessed” with his voice. Although Belle was truly a unique talent, like no one else on the show, Alicia agreed with her fellow coaches picking Christian to move on. But not to worry Belle fans, Miley shocked everyone using her LAST steal on the sultry singer saying she was “inspired” by Belle’s “sense of style”. We love a good steal!
Here’s where the teams stand so far (Knockout Steals in Italics):
Blake: Sundance Head, Jason Warrior, Courtney Harrell
Adam: Josh Gallagher, Simone Gundy, Riley Elmore, Billy Gilman
Miley: Ali Caldwell, Belle Jewel
Alicia: Kylie Rothfield, We McDonald, Christian Cuevas
