I love Dancing With The Stars. Derek Hough is obviously a huge part of the show, being the pro who has won the most Mirrorball trophies, and he is fantastic. I even saw his show MOVE Live! show at Radio City Music Hall and it was AMAZING.
The problem is, he is taking the show a little too seriously. He is pushing his partner Marilu Henner too hard. I definitely believe the pros can encourage their partners to improve, but Derek just seems frustrated, and last night, he literally pushed her too hard — and she fell during the team dance. Although Marilu said she was fine after the fall, the look on her face said it all. (AND DID YOU SEE CARRIE ANN INABA‘S FACE?!)
It was sooo awkward and uncomfortable. Derek needs to remember that he’s not dancing with Laurie Hernandez. He is SO talented but his drive is actually hurting the performances. He’s making her look bad because he is SO good. He needs to tone it down just a bit so they look more equal.
After their Charleston, Carrie Ann said she seemed “tense” — I honestly think it’s because she is so scared to mess up in front of Derek.
Marilu is the oldest in the competition, at 64 years old. She is in incredible shape, and I give her a lot of credit. Derek is so creative and innovative, and he needs to use those skills to come up with a plan so that Marilu feels safe, comfortable and most of all, has fun with him.
