In an especially emotional episode of ‘Jill & Jessa Counting On,’ the older Duggar kids relived epic moments from this past season, but not all their memories were happy! In fact, Jill Duggar couldn’t hold back tears as she remembered how difficult it’s been living in Central America with her hubby & baby son. Find out here what her scariest moment has been so far.
The Oct. 25 episode of Jill & Jessa Counting On was a bit unusual as it was done in a different format than the rest of the shows this past season. In the episode, producers gathered the older Duggar children in Nashville, TN with their partners: Joy, 18; Jana, 26; Jinger, 22; Jill, 25; Jessa, 23; Ben Seewald, 21; Derick Dillard, 27; and Jeremy Vuolo, 29, to watch clips from earlier this year and discuss what’s been happening to each of them so far this season.
Of course Jeremy and Jinger gushed about their engagement, and Jessa and Ben talked about how excited they are to welcome baby number two in February, but things took an unexpected turn when Jill and Derick were asked about their lives back in Central America, where they’re currently doing mission work.
The couple were asked to speak about a scary situation they’ve faced recently while abroad, and Jill immediately launched into a pretty terrifying story. She recalled how she and Derick were home with their baby son Israel, 1, one night when they heard what sounded like glass breaking in their home. In that moment they knew they could be in serious danger.
Jill explained how they locked themselves into a room and began sending messages out to family and friends, telling them to pray for them. It was then that Jill broke down in tears on set. “You don’t want to think about something bad happening,” Derick told the cameras. But at the same time, he acknowledged that it’s extremely dangerous in their neighborhood overseas, and murders, rapes, and break-ins are a normal part of life over there.
Luckily, that night was only a false alarm as they soon discovered the loud sound was made from their shower curtain rod falling. But Jill and Derick’s story just goes to show how on edge they truly are over in that other country. Both Jill and Derick did acknowledge though just how important the work they’re doing is. “We want to help these people,” Derick said. Talk about a noble cause!
And while Jill and Derick are currently taking a break from Central America and living at home in Arkansas for a little bit, they do plan on returning overseas — that is unless Jill gets pregnant, which is entirely possible! After all, the couple did admit that they’re definitely trying to give little Israel a sibling. “I’ve taken a bunch of pregnancy tests,” Jill revealed. “But I’m not pregnant yet.” Hmm, maybe that’ll change soon!
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — do you think Jill and Derick will move back to the states for good? Or will they stay in Central America?
