Abraham took one for the team on The Walking Dead‘s October 23 season seven premiere, but he didn’t go without saying goodbye to Sasha. Though there was no time for hugs and affection before his death, many fans on social media noticed that he did something special and heartbreaking just for Sasha before Negan took his first swing.

In order to let Sasha know that he loved her no matter what, Abraham threw up a peace sign in her direction. To those who aren’t fans of the show that might not seem very symbolic, but the peace sign was an important part of Abraham and Sasha’s relationship even before things got romantic.

As you might remember, Abraham threw Sasha a peace sign in the season six premiere before they team up to help steer the walker horde away. It was then Sasha who threw the peace sign to Abraham once they returned to Alexandria later in the season, after they spent some one-on-one time together outside of town and realized that they had feelings for one another. Needless to say, the symbolism of the peace sign was huge between the two, and you can see the agony on Sasha’s face when she realizes what Abraham’s doing for her.

However, Abraham wasn’t the only one to get in a goodbye. When Negan turned his bat on Glenn, even after being struck so hard his eye started to bulge out he managed to slip out five heartbreaking words: “Maggie, I will find you.” These two crucial moments really proved how emotional The Walking Dead truly is, as viewers have become so attached to the characters as well as their growth and relationships aside from just the gore of a zombie apocalypse.
