Tom Hanks made America great again on ‘SNL’ through one of the funniest sketches of the night, playing a hardcore Trump supporter on an episode of ‘Black Jeopardy’. Click through to watch the hilarious sketch!
Tom Hanks hosted one of the strongest episodes of Saturday Night Live season 42 on October 22, bringing down the house with tons of hilarious sketches. Maybe one of the best of the night was his appearance on Black Jeopardy, the always-funny game show that pits one white person against two black contestants.
Now, the premise of the sketch is that the white contestant generally fails miserably on the game show because they’re in way over their heads trying to solve categories that they know nothing about. But Tom’s character is shockingly different. Doug is a Trump supporter, complete with a Make America Great Again hat and an American Flag t-shirt. This looks like it’s going to be a huge problem. The host, Darnell Hayes, (Kenan Thompson) is pretty sure that Doug is lost.
But in a crazy twist, Doug is actually kicking everyone’s butts at Black Jeopardy! Despite the fact that nobody’s politics line up, they kind of all have the same conspiracy theories. Sure, the other people on the show are thinking the Illuminati are rigging the election, and not Hillary Clinton, but it doesn’t matter. Doug still gets the answer right!
Darnell is so impressed with Doug, especially after he confesses to how much he loves Tyler Perry‘s Madea movies — “I bought a box set at Wal-Mart, and I tell ya, if I can laugh, and pray, in 90 minutes, that is money well-spent” — that he has to come over and shake his hand. The bubble is burst when Doug is visibly scared by being approached by a black man, and has a few moments of reluctance before shaking Kenan’s hand. You almost did it, Doug.
