FINALLY. We know now who Negan murders using his trusty Lucille, thanks to the horrific scene being revealed in ‘The Walking Dead’s latest season premiere. Click inside for MAJOR spoilers.
Unfortunately, it was Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) who fell victim first to Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) wrath in the premiere episode of The Walking Dead‘s seventh season. In the comics, Abraham is originally killed by Dwight (Austin Amelio) in the comics, though on the show it’s Denise’s (Merritt Wever) life he took with Daryl’s crossbow.
It only took about twenty minutes to get to the bloody scene, which included everyone sobbing at the death and Negan literally beating his brains out. “You guys, look at my dirty girl,” Negan told the group after, showing off Lucille, now soaked in blood. Rosita (Christian Serratos) was obviously sobbing, and he was throwing it in her face. With that, Daryl (Norman Reedus) jumped up and punched him — not a good move. It just angered him more, and led to the death of Glenn. Yes, they both were murdered. “Lucille is thirsty; she is a vampire bat,” he said after bashing his brains out.
Abraham’s death was an incredibly bold departure from The Walking Dead comics created by Robert Kirkman, because Negan originally kills Glenn (Steven Yeun). So in a way, it did follow that.
Abraham’s death was widely speculated not only after his storyline seemed to come “full circle” at the end of season 6, but especially after the now iconic Negan scene was first revealed. As you might remember, I wrote a lengthy article filled with theories about why I thought Abraham would be the one Negan picks — and, not to brag, but it turns out I was right!
