The Foxes needed a pick-me-up after getting smacked around by Chelsea on Oct. 15. The Blues gave the Foxes plenty of reasons to frown – three of them, in fact, as Chelsea blanked Leicester, 3-0. The Foxes rebounded by winning 1-0 against FC Copenhagen on Oct. 18. Now, if the reigning Premier League champs can replicate the success in this game, they might climb a little higher up the table. Going into this game, they sit at 13th place, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal and Manchester City.
Crystal Palace’s season has been moderately better. At least they’ve scored double-digit points so far, winning over Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Stoke City. However, they played Everton to a 1-1 draw before falling to West Ham.
If they want to remain on the top half of the table, they’ll have to rank up a few points in this match. Their last October is against soccer icons Liverpool. While the Reds were listless in the 0-0 draw against archrivals Manchester United, the Eagles can expect Liverpool to be more animated in that match.
Even if Leicester doesn’t repeat as champs (as no one expects them to) they’ll likely make it to the knockout stages of the Champions League. With a perfect 3-for-3 win over their group competition (beating Porto, FC Copenhagen and Club Brugge) they’re just one point away from advancing, according to the Telegraph. All it’ll take is Jamie Vardy, 29, netting another point to punch Leicester’s ticket to the next round. But that’s a few weeks away. Right now, they need to deal with Crystal Palace.
