OMG! Tom Cruise stole many hearts as the hunky pilot in ‘Top Gun,’ and now he FINALLY confirmed sequel discussions in a shocking new interview! We’ve got the scoop on whether or not he’ll be returning to the big screen as Maverick anytime soon.
Tom Cruise, 54, looked like the ultimate movie star while stopping by the Graham Norton show, giving us major Maverick vibes with his luscious locks and bright white smile. So of course, he was asked about the hit action flick Top Gun, since there’s been a lot of speculation surrounding an upcoming sequel. Tom first played coy, saying, “No.” But, Graham wasn’t buying it, pulling up a tweet with Jerry Bruckheimer that read, “Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend Tom Cruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2.” The Golden-globe winner then revealed, “We’re discussing it. We’re trying. If we can figure it out, I’d love to work on it!” So, there’s hope!
Tom revealed that if he did reprise his starring role, it might be a little easier this time around for a very interesting reason. He explained, “When you first start flying you get sick. Like fill a bag sick.” Yikes! He explained how he had to negotiate the details. “I made a deal with the studio and I had to be filmed in the f-14 live and so I had to go through all the ejector seat training.” In order to prepare, he even took some super intense trips up with the Blue Angels. But his most memorable experience was with an adventurous pilot named Bozo and let’s just say he wasn’t afraid to do some crazy maneuvers, forcing the actor to hold tight to a barf bag!
The award-winning actor last stopped by The Late Late Show on Oct. 19 with James Corden, 38. Fans were treated to the ultimate gift, with the two acting out Tom’s entire film career in the course of nine minutes. Tom and James went through everything from the classics, like Top Gun, Cocktail, Risky Business, Mission Impossible and Jerry Maguire. We’re ready for more!
