Anna Schmidt, the 21-year-old daughter of The Piano Guys member Jon Schmidt, was reported missing on October 19 after hiking alone in Oregon. Her father posted an impassioned plea on Facebook asking fans to please help him search for Anna, and bring her home.
Anna Schmidt, 21, of Portland Oregon, was last seen by her roommate on Sunday, October 16. She had sent her father, Jon Schmidt, the pianist for The Piano Guys, a Snapchat that same day telling him she went hiking on the Tooth Rock Trailhead. She hasn’t been seen since.
Search and rescue teams are currently combing the trailhead area, as well as the Columbia River Gorge, for signs of Anna. Her car was found at the nearby Bonneville Dam on Thursday, October 20. Investigators from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office towed the car, and are searching it for any clues to Anna’s whereabouts. Her cell phone pinged that past Sunday afternoon near the trailhead, but there’s been no other activity, according to Fox12 Oregon.
Anna is described as 5 feet four inches, white, 125 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She’s an avid hiker, who just bought a new tent and backpack. Her father said that Anna’s hiking trip on the 16th was “spur of the moment,” and she may not have had all her gear with her when she went missing. Police do not suspect any foul play, but instead fear that Anna may have gotten lost or injured while hiking alone.
“Friends, I need your help,” Jon Schmidt wrote on Facebook. “My daughter, Annie, went missing this week. We are searching in the “tooth rock” area of Portland, Oregon. If anyone was hiking around there last Sunday and saw her — or if you know someone who might have seen her there please call the local Portland police. It will narrow our search. She would have been wearing a gray or green beanie. We need everyone’s prayers too. Thank you.”
