It models, actresses and singers alike are all making one small change to their hairstyles — bangs! From Selena Gomez to Lucy Hale, see all of our favorite fringe styles and keep reading for expert tips on trying the look for yourself this fall.
Now that the weather is finally cooling down, there’s no better time to try out bangs since you won’t have to worry about them going greasy under the hot sun. Whether you want to ease your way into the look like model Hailey Baldwin or go full-on fringe like Jenna Dewan-Tatum, we have the expert tips from Marie Robinson Salon Stylist Liana Le on how to prepare for your salon appointment and style your bangs post-cut.
When deciding what kind of bangs you want, we always recommend combing through pictures on Pinterest and voicing all of your concerns and questions with your stylist. If you want something easy that suits all face shapes and really opens up your face, Liana says to go for classic Jane Birkin bangs — a soft, short layered set of fringe.
Liana says whether you choose blunt bangs, short layers or longer layered fringe, be prepared to make a commitment. “If getting bangs is on your agenda be ready to invest [time] to style them,” she says.
To shape your bangs, Liana recommends using a product like Shu Uemura’s Ample Angora Volumizing Mousse, $39. The mousse will add volume without any crunchy residue so that your bangs don’t sit flat to your forehead but still have natural movement to them. To add a more textured look to your fringe, Liana recommends Shu Uemura’s Texture Wave Dry Texturizing Spray $39. One of our favorite products for tousled waves, this spray will give your bangs a uniform look if you’re going for an undone, textured look all over.
