Selma Blair revealed that she is feeling so much better now, and no longer drinking a drop of alcohol, after the episode she had back in June on a plane, when she began to scream that a man was abusing her after mixing alcohol and pills. See Selma telling the hosts of ‘The Talk’ just what happened during that terrifying day, right after the jump.
Selma Blair, 44, had a very scary incident back in June when, on a flight from Cancun to LA with her son Arthur, 5, and his father, Jason Bleick, she began to scream that a man was burning her “private parts” and threatening to “kill” her after she took medication and mixed it with alcohol. But, on the Oct. 19 episode of The Talk, Selma said she is doing so much better now, having cut out drinking because of that incident.
“I am someone that should never drink, and I rarely do,” the actress said. “And I don’t drink anymore, but I did. I was going through something, I had a glass of wine. Someone gave me a pill that I thought was something I had taken before, which I don’t take on a regular basis. It was something completely different, a very bad choice, and I had a total psychotic blackout. And it was horrible and frightening, and I had empathy for myself actually afterwards, because it was actually so out of character for me, especially now that I’m a mother.”
Selma said the whole experience was “terrifying,” but that she wasn’t actually hospitalized for it. “I was taken, not really to a hospital, but more like a clinic to get an IV and make an assessment. And I went home two hours later, but there were so many paparazzi and I just thought, ‘Oh my God, what have I created?’ I felt horrible.” Selma assured fans that her young son had not seen the incident and had instead been with his father and slept through it. “I knew he was going to sleep, he had headphones on, and that’s why I took this pill anyhow. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m exhausted, I have to get home and take care of my son.’ Bad choice, all around. Totally own it, it will not happen again. And I keep it alive in me every day. I forgive myself, but I keep it alive. Things can go really wrong and humiliating.” That is definitely the way to look at it now, Selma!
