For the ninth time in his career, Hugh Jackman is taking on the role of Wolverine. The new ‘Logan’ trailer shows the ‘mutant’ like we’ve never seen before. Watch.
Wolverine is back, and looking very different. Logan, Hugh’s third solo movie as Wolverine, also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Richard E. Grant, who is rumored to be playing a “mad scientist.” The film is inspired from the Old Man Logan comic, but details of the film are super scarce at the moment. The trailer is set to Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” and gives a glance at the Western setting.
“Charles, the world is not the same as it was,” the much older, no longer healing Logan grumbles Professor X, who also doesn’t look great either. “Mutants — they’re gone now.”
And yes, even Patrick Stewart knows that the trailer is very different. “It IS a different world now,” he tweeted. However, let me add one thing: yes, both of the men have aged but both are ready to fight.
We also get a glance at a young girl, Laura (Sienna Novikov) who appears to be very similar to Logan, leading many to wonder if this is the introduction of Wolverine’s successor, X-23. Stephen Merchant confirmed earlier this year that he’ll be playing Caliban, an albino from the MCU who can sense and track other mutants, as well use others emotions to increase his own strength; Boyd Holbrook also plays the villain.
Logan is set to hit theaters on March 3, 2017.
