If you aren’t keeping an eye on Kelsea Ballerini…you might want to start. The up-and-coming country superstar completely nailed her performance of ‘Peter Pan’ at CMT’s Artists of the Year ceremony — she’s so darn talented!
Kelsea Ballerini, 23, was named Breakout Artist of the Year at the CMT Artists of the Year show, which taped on Oct. 19 and aired Oct. 20, and to celebrate the great honor, she gave a performance of her most recent hit, “Peter Pan.” The singer looked absolutely gorgeous in a sparkling blue dress as she belted out the song, and we can’t get over how freakin’ talented she is. Even Shania Twain was mouthing the words in the audience!
It was such a touching moment when Kelsea’s “brother” — aka Arsenio Hall, LOL — presented her with the Breakout Artist award, which she emotionally dedicated to her grandfather, who just passed away. What a great tribute!
It’s been an absolutely incredible year for Kelsea, who recently made history by becoming the first female country singer to have three consecutive No. 1s off a debut album! Before “Peter Pan,” she ruled the charts with “Dibs” and “Love Me Like You Mean It,” and with a tour alongside Thomas Rhett coming up next year, things are only going to get bigger for this young star.
The Artists of the Year event was a huge night for Kelsea, too — besides just performing on her own, she also took the stage later on in the night alongside Meghan Trainor and Jill Scott to pay tribute to Shania, who was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. Meanwhile, in just a few weeks, Kelsea will attend the CMA Awards, where she’s nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year. We’re pullin’ for ya, girl!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Kelsea’s performance? Do you think she’s the year’s Breakout Artist?
