On the Oct. 20 episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ Meredith and Bailey were at odds when both of their patients needed a liver transplant. Plus, Owen struggled while babysitting Harriet and Amelia struggled to tell Owen some important news. Read our recap below!
The Oct. 20 episode of Grey’s Anatomy started with April’s return back to work. However, it surprised Amelia because she thought April still had three more days left on her maternity leave. Amelia just had the date wrong, but when she realized what day it really was, she discovered she was late — meaning, she thought she was pregnant. She got so excited that she prematurely shared the good news with Meredith, Maggie and April. Meredith begged her to take a pregnancy test before telling Owen, but Amelia struggled with telling Owen anything because the last time she was pregnant, she didn’t have to tell the father — he was dead. When Amelia finally mustered up the courage to tell Owen, she did so by presenting him with a pregnancy test… one she still had to pee on. And so she did, but when the results showed up, Amelia discovered she’s not pregnant. Owen seemed disappointed, but Amelia… well, she gasped a sigh of relief. (Huh?!)
And because of April’s return to work, Jackson was forced to bring Harriet in to the hospital’s daycare after he was called in for an emergency surgery. But before she made her way to daycare, Jackson left her with Owen. And Harriet was NOT a fan of Owen. Every time he held her, she burst into tears. Finally, Owen worked his magic and managed to get Harriet to fall asleep on his shoulder in the conference room. This just made Owen want kids even more.
Meanwhile, Bailey informed a patient of hers that she’d be getting a new liver after waiting three years for a transplant. However, those plans nearly went awry when Meredith’s own 25-year-old patient had an emergency case and was placed at the top of the donor list. If Bailey’s patient was willing to give her liver to Meredith’s patient, UNOS would agree to do the switch. But Granny (Bailey’s patient) said “hell no!” Fortunately, a patient of Maggie’s died during surgery and his liver ended up being a match for Meredith’s patient.
