What better way to celebrate being one of CMT’s Artists of the Year than by paying tribute to some of the greatest songwriters in the biz!? Carrie Underwood, 33, did just that when she accepted the honor from Olympic gymnasts Aly Raisman, 22, and Madison Kocian, 16, during the 2016 ceremony. The ladies have been vocal about being HUGE Carrie fans, so it was so adorable to see them have this opportunity to be with her on such a big night.
The American Idol winner took the stage to perform the gorgeous track “Like I’ll Never Love You Again” from her latest album, Storyteller, and she was joined by the song’s talented writers, Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose. Carrie looked stunning in a metallic mini dress with a long train, which allowed her to show off her perfect legs with the right amount of elegance. Seriously, does she EVER look bad?!
Along with Carrie, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and Chris Stapleton were also honored at this year’s event, which was broadcast on Oct. 20. Meanwhile, Shania Twain was given the Lifetime Achievement Award and Kelsea Ballerini was recognized as the year’s Breakout Artist — it certainly was a year for the ladies and they couldn’t be more deserving of it!
It’s definitely been quite a year for Carrie — she’s been all over North America with her Storyteller tour and blew up the charts with songs like “Church Bells,” “Heartbeat,” and now, “Dirty Laundry.” Get it, girl!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Carrie’s performance at CMT Artists of the Year? Do you think she was good person to be honored?
