“If Angelina [Jolie] is made primary custodial parent, she has the right to live wherever she wants. If she wanted to move out of the states, it would trigger a court hearing and a review by a judge. She would and could succeed if she could show some abuse or negligence by Brad [Pitt],” California divorce attorney David Pisarra shares with HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“Brad can prevent Angelina Jolie and the kids from leaving the country if he were to prevail and received primary custodial care. Or, if Brad is granted a big enough chunk of custody along with a regular visitation schedule, that would make it more difficult for a judge to rule against him and let Angie and the kids move,” David adds.
At this time, there are no known plans for Angelina Jolie to take their six kids — Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — to a different country, but of course, it’s always a possibility. Angelina is known for her humanitarian work, which often takes her to distant countries. And now that she and Brad have split, it’s possible she’d end up taking the kids with her the next time she travels. But that will obviously come down to whether or not she wins prime physical custody. Luckily, Brad has some options if she tries to take the kids and move far away.
