Hot stuff! Superstar Tom Cruise stopped by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Oct. 18 to talk up his new action flick ‘Jack Reacher,’ but the main topic turned out to be one of his most famous flicks ‘Top Gun.’ Keep reading for his update on if the long awaited sequel is finally in the works!
Tom Cruise, 54, looked every bit his youthful movie star self in his chat with Jimmy Kimmel, 48, with his perfect brown hair, million-dollar smile and a healthy golden tan. He was as sharp dressed as always in a casual black shirt and jeans and the crowd absolutely loved him, giving him a massive standing ovation. While he was on to discuss his Jack Reacher sequel, the night was all about his fighter jet movie Top Gun, which turns 30 this year. So Jimmy asked the big question, will we EVER get the sequel to that amazing movie? Tom wants to do it, telling him, “It’s just gotta be right, that’s all.” YES!!! Make…this…happen!
We can totally see him stepping back into his iconic role as Maverick, training a new group of young fighter jet pilots squaring off against new enemies. The audience went wild when he said that he’s ready for it, and the night was so Top Gun themed that Kenny Loggins even appeared as the musical guest to perform the movie’s iconic track “Danger Zone” for Tom’s intro onto the stage!
Tom revealed that always he knew he was going to take the classic role, but told producers he wanted at least three flights in an F-14 and all the training before taking the part. The brilliant negotiation ploy got him what he wanted and he did some super intense trips up with the Blue Angels. Unfortunately his pilot was a guy named Bozo who had some fun with Tom’s puking during their crazy maneuvers.
“I had a vomit bag right here and in between takes I’d quickly lean down to empty my guts and he pulls up. My head from the pressure was on the ground, pressed on the floor holding my vomit. I was choking and he just kept pulling up and up and up.” When he asked the pilot why he was messing with him so badly, he told him ” Well, I tell ya they don’t call me Bozo for nothing.” Badum-bum!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Tom’s appearance on Kimmel? Was he ever bit as charming as you expected?
