Despite public scrutiny, and even disappointment from his own family, Donald Trump continues to disparage women. This may happen because the GOP presidential candidate could have a form of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, according to a psychologist who spoke to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. What are the signs?
“Donald Trump’s behavior during this campaign could be argued as an example of narcissistic personality disorder. There are two types,” says Dr. Jennifer Rhodes, a psychologist who spoke to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “One type, which is not well known, is the vulnerable type. These types of highly emotionally sensitive and often feel helpless and socially anxious. The other type, the grandiose type, act like they are superior (and in some cases, they might be). They lack empathy and will seek revenge on those who do not treat them with respect. They have no sense of shame and have very high self-esteem.
It’s a serious allegation about the GOP presidential candidate, but the second type of the disorder does sound like Donald. He’s ridiculed the women who have come forward and said that he sexually assaulted them in the past, after the 2005 tape leaked where he described inappropriate, sexist behavior, like “grabbing” women “by the p***y.” You could call him lashing out at women who spoke ill of him “seeking revenge.”
Of course, his behavior does not mean he is suffering from a type of personality disorder. Donald could be playing up his Trumpiness, if you will. “It could be argued that he is sticking to his brand,” Dr. Rhodes said. “He made a name for himself going after anyone who challenged him in business and his behavior is in accordance with this brand.”
