Billy Bush has officially been fired from the ‘Today’ show, and today, Oct. 18, Matt Lauer addressed the elephant in the room. So how does the ‘Today’ family feel about losing one of their most prominent anchors? WATCH and see what Matt had to say right here!
There’s no way that Today show host Matt Lauer, 58, wasn’t going to bring up Billy Bush, 45, during today’s broadcast. WATCH:
“NBC News announced last night that Billy Bush would be leaving the Today show effective immediately, noting that he was a valued colleague and longtime member of the broader NBC family,” Lauer said on the show. “A statement Billy released separately last night read in part, ‘I look forward to what lies ahead.’ And, of course, all of us here at Today wish Billy the very best,” he added. Yeah, yeah.
As we previously told you, Bush’s highly publicized firing comes after the leaked Donald Trump video, in which he and the Republican presidential candidate make beyond degrading comments about women, including Bush’s former Access Hollywood co-host Nancy O’Dell. Bush was then suspended from the Today show, and the network took a little more time to make their final decision. Well, it’s buh-bye, Billy.
Bush also issued an apology for the comments on Oct. 17, though it wasn’t well-received. “I am deeply grateful for the conversations I’ve had with my daughters, and for all of the support from family, friends and colleagues,” Bush said.
Meanwhile, people are furious that though Bush was fired, but Trump is still allowed to run for president. Considering Trump said the worst of it in the video, it doesn’t really add up, eh?
