Ivanka Trump finally gave a statement regarding the sexist comments father Donald Trump made on board the Access Hollywood bus in 2005. How did she respond upon hearing her father say that he ‘grabs’ women ‘by the p***y’?
“My father’s comments were clearly inappropriate and offensive and I’m glad that he acknowledged this fact with an immediate apology to my family and the American people,” Ivanka Trump told Fast Company after the shocking recording from 2005 leaked, in which father Donald Trump bragged about what some consider sexual assault.
Ivanka does not seem enraged by her father’s comments, but it’s rare for her to admit any wrongdoing on his part, as she did in her statement. It’s clear that Donald messed up this time! Prior to the Trump tape leaking, Ivanka was actually asked by the magazine about her father’s prior history of sexism, and sexual assault allegations. She gave a much different response than the above.
“The greatest comfort I have is the fact that I know my father. Most of the people who write about him don’t. I do,” she said. “So that gives me an ability to shrug off the things that I read about him that are wrong.”
It’s worth pointing out that she says he apologized to the Trumps, and to the American people, but not to Nancy O’Dell or Arianne Zucker, the two women objectified in the conversation he had with Billy Bush. Those apologies have yet to happen! While the public is outraged by Donald’s remarks, he hasn’t faced any real consequences.
Billy was forced to step down from his position as a host on the Today show because of the lewd 2005 conversation; wife Melania Trump told Anderson Cooper in an interview that Billy “egged him on” during the exchange. Countless women have come forward and alleged that Donald sexually assaulted or harassed them, in the ways he described in the tapes. He’s pushed back and publicly ridiculed them.
