Maksim Chmerkovskiy Says Goodbye To ‘DWTS’: ‘I Have Zero Interest’ In Returning

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is DONE with ‘Dancing With The Stars.’ After being voted off the reality show with partner Amber Rose on Oct. 17, Maksim revealed he has ‘zero interest’ in being a ‘DWTS’ pro next season.

“I’m telling you right now I have zero interest in coming back as a dancer [next season],” Maksim, 36, told Entertainment Tonight. Maks is currently expecting his first child with fiancee Peta Murgatroyd, 30, and their impending arrival played a role in his decision not to come back.

“I’m going to have a newborn baby. I have zero want to do this. I promise you that,” he continued. “It’s been it for me two years ago. I never thought I’d be back here in this position. I’m glad I am. I promise, I’m so glad that I made this decision.”

Maksim and Peta’s baby is expected to arrive in Jan. 2017. If he were to return for season 24, he would have to be in Los Angeles to start training with a new partner in March. “Trust me, I really don’t care how this comes across, but there’s no money on the planet that can replace me missing out the three, four, five months of my baby’s life. Zero chance. I can’t wait for all of this, diapers, and all of this stuff. I can’t wait for Peta to pursue her goals and whatever and I just want to be a stay-at-home dad,” he said.

Before competing with Amber Rose, 32, in season 23, Maksim hadn’t competed on DWTS since 2014, when he won season 18 with partner Meryl Davis, 29. He also skipped seasons 16 and 17. He may have taken breaks before, but it sounds like Maksim is truly leaving DWTS behind this time around.
