Way to slay! President Barack Obama made a surprise appearance on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ Oct. 17 and pulled off a presidential first by wearing a Snapchat crown of flowers on his head. Keep reading for more on his hilarious appearance and his appeal to Millennials to vote.
In a pre-taped skit, Stephen played “Randy the office manager,” who helped sharpen the outgoing prez’s resume and interviewing skills for his next job after leaving the White House. He was brutal right off the bat, noting of Barack Obama‘s age, “55, tough time to start over for a man.” Stephen/Randy then asked, “Social media, very hot! Do you have any experience with that, like Twitter?” The president responded, “I have 77 million followers, does that count,” then deadpanned that he got so many because of “executive order…and photos of cats” Hah!
Randy then told him all businesses are looking to appeal to millennials and how did he plan to get their attention. “I would tell them straight up this is the most important election of their lifetimes…so they have to get out there and vote!” Randy was bored during the answer, looking away noting that on his smartphone how he could make a flower crown on Snapchat. Obama replied “I know” and was shown with a wreath of their new red flowers on top of his head! Too amazing! The leader of the free world with a cute Snapchat filter. That should definitely help with the millennial vote!
He had other fun questions thrown at him like, “Have you ever had to fire anyone?” to which the president dead-panned “Nah, I let SEAL Team six handle that.” He was also asked if he had any awards or commendations, to which Obama said that he has almost 30 honorary degrees and the Nobel Peace Prize. As to how he earned that “to be honest I still don’t know,” was his priceless response.
“Because we are on a network television show I can’t ask you to endorse a candidate right now, I can ask you for your choice of snacks,” Stephen/Randy asked then setting up the big question perfectly. “Would you care for an extra fiber nutrient bar that has travelled to over 100 countries, or this shriveled tangerine covered with golden retriever hair, filled with bile that I wouldn’t leave alone with a woman I love.” It’s pretty hilarious how the damaged fruit he used as a prop actually resembled Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, 70. Needless to say, the president went with the energy bar that was a clear symbol for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, 68. Definitely the only way to go!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of the president’s sit-down with Stephen the fake interviewer?
