The Battle Rounds just keep getting better on Season 11 of ‘The Voice’! The coaches continue to pair up their team members for insane duet performances on the Oct. 17 episode, and with only a few Steals left, some pretty heartbreaking eliminations have to be made. Keep up with the whole episode by reading our recap here!
The third night of Battle Rounds kicks off with Team Adam Levine, with a performance from Johnny Rez and returning contestant Nolan Neal. The guys rehearse with Adam and adviser Sammy Hagar before taking the stage to sing an epic version of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer,” and of course, they leave their coach with a tough decision. Ultimately, Adam chooses the guy he says he feels more “connected” to — Nolan.
Next up is Darby Walker and Karlee Metzger from Miley Cyrus’ team. The 23-year-old and her adviser, Joan Jett, help the ladies perfect a rendition of “Brand New Key,” and they put on a memorable performance when they hit the stage. But, obviously, Miley can only keep one on her team, and she decides on Darby. Karlee isn’t going anywhere, though — because Blake comes through and pushes his button to make his first Steal!
Blake Shelton’s artists Blaine Long and Josh Gallagher are the next to perform. With some help from their coach and adviser Bette Midler, the singers prepare a duet of “Stranger In My House” by Ronnie Milsap, and it shows off both guys’ soulful and country roots. After an incredible performance by his two team members, the country singer picks Josh to continue in the competition.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see all the Battles, but Blake also pairs Dana Harper and Tarra Layne, ultimately going with Dana. Meanwhile, Alicia Keys matches up Belle Jewel and Halle Tomlinson and chooses Belle, and Adam puts JSoul and Simone Gundy up against each other and picks Simone.
Josh Halverson and Kylie Rothfield from Team Alicia are the next two artists to battle, and interestingly, Kylie went to school with their team’s adviser, Charlie Puth! Alicia gives her contestants “House Of The Rising Sun” to sing, and it’s nothing short of perfection. It’s not an easy decision, but Alicia winds up keeping Kylie on her team. Miley pulls through for Josh, though, and pushes her button — yes, with her tongue — to steal him.
Blake’s singers Christian Fermin and Gabe Broussard are up next, and their coach gives them Hoobastank’s “The Reason” to perform. The guys completely slay the song once they take the stage, and Blake just doesn’t know who to pick! He has to decide, though, and eventually goes with Gabe.
The final battle of the night is between Team Miley’s Aaron Gibson and Sa’Rayah. Miley gives them “I’ll Take Care Of You” to sing and it’s without a doubt the performance of the night. It’s nearly an impossible decision for the 23-year-old, but she chooses Aaron. Don’t worry, there’s still some Steals in play, though — Blake and Alicia BOTH want Sa’Rayah on their teams, and they battle it out to win her over. Finally, Sa’Rayah must make her decision, and she picks Alicia as her new coach!
