Well, that was epic! Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker reunited on the Broadway stage at a benefit for Hillary Clinton today, Oct. 17, and they proved that they’ve still got it. Along with Broadway star Victoria Clark, the married couple performed ‘Been A Long Day’ so keep reading about their amazing appearance.
Matthew Broderick, 54, and Sarah Jessica Parker, 51, rarely perform together, but they took to the Broadway stage to raise money for Hillary Clinton, 68, and we’re so glad we got to see it. The couple teamed up with Tony-nominated actress Victoria Clark for a rendition of “Been A Long Day” from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which they both starred in in the 1990s and they haven’t lost a beat! Sarah looked amazing in a black long sleeved sweater and skirt while Matthew rocked a black tee and slacks as they sang about the hopes of going out on a date.
It’s a pretty big deal that Matthew and SJP hit the together. They last did so at The Art House in Provincetown in August 2015 as part of the Broadway @ Town Hall concert series, and it’s definitely a special occurrence. Anyway, they absolutely killed it at the “Stronger Together” fundraiser! It was so cute to see the happily married couple play a secretary and boss who both have secret crushes on each other. You could tell how much the performance meant to them with every note they sang, as they finally joined arm in arm at to close out the number.
Matthew starred in the 1995 revival of How to Succeed along with Megan Mullally, and SJP replaced Megan when Matthew had already left. However, he made a return to the show so they could be in it together! How cute is that? And now we have their performance for Hillary as another great one to remember!
Their show-stopping number wasn’t the only awesome part of Hillary’s star-studded Broadway fundraiser. Julia Roberts, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Emily Blunt, Neil Patrick Harris, Helen Mirren and more celebs also sang or made appearances, and we got to see duets between Hollywood starlets and Broadway vets alike. Definitely a night to remember!
