Corey Feldman received tons of backlash after his bizarre Sept. 16 performance on the ‘TODAY’ show, but that didn’t stop him from coming back and giving it another shot — wearing an equally eccentric costume. WATCH the video of Corey’s return to the program right here, and find out why he’s not letting the haters get to him!
Corey Feldman, 45, channeled the late Michael Jackson during an odd performance of “Go 4 It” on the TODAY show in September, and he received tons of “painful” criticism as a result. Corey returned to the program today, Oct. 13, to perform his song “Take a Stand” and show the haters that he’s not letting them get him down. WATCH his performance here.
While wearing an, ah, interesting gold outfit, Corey also spoke out about his viral first performance, telling Tamron Hall that he appreciates the support he received from other artists. “Pink, Kesha, Miley Cyrus, Paris Jackson — they all reached out,” he said.
When asked why he’s decided to stay true to himself, Corey shared a heartbreaking story. “A friend of mine was on the phone with me, I was all depressed and I was crying,” Corey revealed. “He said, think of it this way. When Eminem and Nirvana first started, they all got hate, people were turning them off at the radio stations and walking off the dance floor at the clubs because it didn’t make sense to them at that time. But those all became amazing legends.”
“That really turned it around for me,” Corey added. “I’m like, you know, you’re right: a lot of people get hate in the beginning. We’re doing something new that hasn’t been done before. But it’s all about innovation and being an artist, and we can’t be afraid to share our art.” Good for him!
