The Blind Auditions are over and the teams are complete — so it’s time for the Battle Rounds on Season 11 of ‘The Voice.’ The next step in the competition began during the Oct. 10 episode, and you can follow along with everything that went down in our recap right here!
In the Battle Rounds, the coaches, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys, place their 12 team members into pairs who will sing a duet to stay in the competition. Each coach can only pick one winner of each Battle, but are also given two Steals, which they can use at any point to snatch up an artist and save them from elimination. There are also advisers for each team, and this season, those are Sammy Hagar (Adam), Bette Midler (Blake), Charlie Puth (Alicia) and Joan Jett (Miley).
The first Battle of the night is between Alicia’s artists, Christian Cuevas and Jason Warrior. The guys sing Adele’s “Hello,” and their rendition might just be even better than the original! Alicia chooses Christian, although she loves them both, but it’s not over for Jason, as Adam pushes his button for the Steal. EPIC!
Adam’s team members, Natasha Bure and Riley Elmore, are up next. They’re both rookies in the music industry who Adam wants to help “loosen up,” but it’ll all come down to who can shake the nerves best when it counts. The young singers perform “Cry Me A River” by Michael Buble, and in the end, Adam picks Riley, which unfortunately means Candace Cameron-Bure’s teenage daughter is heading home.
Ali Caldwell and Courtnie Ramirez from Miley’s team are next to perform. The women are both major powerhouse vocalists, and their performance of “Hit or Miss” by Odetta is basically perfection. It’s a tough decision for the 23-year-old, but she decides to keep Ali on her team for the Knockout Round. Luckily, its not the end of the road for Courtnie, though, as Blake and Alicia both push to Steal — and the teenager chooses Alicia as her new coach!
The next Battle of the night is between Dan Shafer and Sundance Head of Team Blake. The guys sing “Feel Like Making Love,” and their experience shines in the duet. Only one can stay on the country singer’s team, though, and he chooses Sundance.
Andrew DeMuro and Billy Gilman from Adam’s team are up next to Battle. The Maroon 5 frontman gives his artists a tough song in Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror,” but they take it on like pro and both sound incredible on the stage. But, ultimately, Adam decides to keep Billy on his team.
The final Battle of the Oct. 10 episode is from Team Alicia: Lauren Diaz and We McDonald. The ladies are both incredible vocalists, and leave their coach with a really tough decision after their performance of Janis Joplin’s “Maybe.” Alicia picks We, but it’s not over for Lauren: Miley and Adam both push for the Steal, and now it’s up to the contestant to choose. She goes with Miley, adding another powerhouse singer to the rookie coach’s team!
Here’s where the team stand so far (Stolen team members in Italics):
Alicia: Christian Cuevas, Courtnie Ramirez, We McDonald
Adam: Jason Warrior, Riley Elmore, Billy Gilman
Miley: Ali Caldwell, Lauren Diaz
Blake: Sundance Head
