The 2016 presidential race may be between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, but the winner of the 2nd debate was TOTALLY audience member Kenneth Bone. The undecided voter appeared on television to ask a question during the town hall — and the Internet is literally obsessed with him.
The Oct. 9 presidential debate was town hall style, meaning voters could ask questions from the audience or send them in online to get the answers they wants from their candidates, Hillary Clinton, 68, and Donald Trump, 70. Several questions were fielded during the Q&A, but no one received nearly as much attention as Kenneth Bone, an undecided voter who had EVERYONE talking.
“What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?” Kenneth asked. But it wasn’t his question or the candidates’ responses that got the Internet buzzing: It was his red sweater, glasses and overall fashion sense that had him made into hilarious memes, which totally took over Twitter.
Many social media users flooded the site with their opinions that Kenneth “won” the debate, calling him the “hero” of the night and ultimately making him a total viral sensation. Even some celebrities got in on the fun, with Patton Oswalt tweeting, “I love you #KennethBone. You asked a question that mattered and you’re too cool to care. Any wannabes poking fun can die un-hip, forever,” and Vinny Guadagnino joking, “Kenneth Bone is the guy from Jurassic Park that smuggled the Dinosaur eggs.”
