Welcome back, Tom Brady! The New England Patriots quarterback was given a shocking welcome at his first NFL game since serving his ‘Deflate Gate’ suspension, as the fans in Cleveland showered him with…cheers? Really. Click to watch.
Tom, 39, probably wasn’t expecting such a warm reception from the fans packing the First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. He and the New England Patriots were far from their home turn when they took on the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 9. Yet, as Tom came out onto the field, it was like he was home! There were as many Patriots fans in the stands as Browns fans and they gave Brady a hero’s welcome.
It was no different when Tom hit the field for his first offensive play. When he connected with an open Julian Edelman, 30, Tom was cheered as if he had thrown a Super Bowl-winning touchdown pass! Are we sure these teams were playing in C-Town?

It seems the Cleveland fans were all ready to forgive Tom for his role in the “Deflate Gate” scandal that rocked the NFL. Though Tom was never directly linked to the operation that saw two Patriots staff members deflate footballs (making them easier to throw and catch) the NFL’s investigator determined that Tom likely knew the cheating was going on. So, he was slapped with a 4-game suspension. Despite Tom’s efforts to appeal, he was forced to sit out the first month of the 2016 NFL season.
If this is the welcome Tom got in Cleveland, what’s it going to be like when he plays the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 16 at Gillete Stadium in Foxborough? Tom’s hometown crowd might shower him with as much love as Ben Affleck, 44, and Matt Damon, 46, have for the Super Bowl champion. In a video to promote their charity fundraiser, Matt and Ben continued to battle for Tom’s affection, as the Patriots superstar came between these Good Will Hunting BFFs.
What did you think about Tom getting booed during his first game back from his “Deflate Gate” suspension, HollywoodLifers?
