‘The Young & The Restless’: Steve Burton Leaving The Soap After 4 Years

What a shocker! Steve Burton is leaving ‘The Young & The Restless’ after 4 years of playing the beloved Dylan McAvoy. Steve announced the big news via Twitter on Oct. 6 and thanked his fans for their constant support over the years. Read his announcement now!

Steve’s final appearance as Dylan has not been revealed. The 46-year-old actor took on the role of Dylan McAvoy in 2012. He’s become one of the best characters on the show. Dylan’s had relationships with Sharon (Sharon Case), Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Avery (Jessica Collins), and he turned out to be Nikki’s long lost son!

Before playing Dylan, Steve was best known for playing Jason Morgan on General Hospital. Jason was Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Bernard) right-hand man, and he was often dubbed “Stone Cold.” He played Jason from 1991 to 2012. He won a Daytime Emmy for the role in 1998. The role is now played by former Young & The Restless star Billy Miller, 37.

When it was revealed that Steve was leaving General Hospital for The Young & The Restless, it was a huge shock to fans. Steve admitted in 2012 that The Young & The Restless was willing to coordinate a working schedule that allowed him to spend most of his time in Nashville, where his family lives.

There’s no word yet on how Dylan will be written out of The Young & The Restless. We’re excited to see what new venture Steve will be pursuing. Steve is currently part of a band, Port Chuck, that features some of his former General Hospital co-stars — Brandon Barash, 37, Scott Reeves, 50, and Bradford Anderson, 37. Maybe one day Steve will find his way back to General Hospital! He’ll always be the one and only Jason Morgan!
