What an absolute treat! To get us super stoked for her rocking and raw new album Joanne, Lady Gaga blew us away with her “Dive Bar Tour,” giving a mini-concert from Nashville’s 5 Spot club Oct. 5 that aired live on Facebook. It’s the first of three intimate shows to get us stoked for her music, with the others going down Oct. 20 and 27 in undisclosed locations.
Once inside the club Gaga, 30, waded through the crowd, passing out hugs to her monsters as she strode to the stage, plopped down on a stool and grabbed an acoustic guitar. She then launched into the country-influenced “Sinner’s Prayer,” which fit in perfectly with her Music City setting. The lyrics are as sharp as anything in country music today, with her chorus that goes “I am what I am and I don’t want to break the heart of any man…but you.” Preach it girl!

Showing her amazing range of artistry, she then launched in to the rockin’ “A-Yo,” which she jammed out to in her amazing new look of a light pink wide-brimmed hat with her hair pulled back in a slick ponytail and minimal makeup. Her earthly new style totally fits her new music which is SUCH a departure from Artpop.
She told the crowd, “My name is Lady Gaga and I’m a singer/songwriter from New York and I’m coming through Nashville. But if you could do me this favor and just for tonight call me Joanne,” referring to her new alter-ego that is the persona, as well as the title of her new album. The crowd totally did her the favor and hollered out her new name.
The Super Bowl 51 halftime show performer continued, “I wrote this song with a Nashville native, Hllary Lindsay. We sat on a couch going back and forth…and why my dad, my boyfriends, all the men in my life, they gave me a million reasons, but I just need one good one to stick around. But you’re giving me a million to walk away.” She then brought Hil onstage and the two launched into the piano and guitar ballad “Million Reasons,” and the hometown crowd went totally wild!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Gaga’s new songs? Are they a welcome new sound from her?
