The end of the ‘The Flash’ season 3 premiere changed everything. One of the show’s core relationships is in shambles. In an all-new interview, Candice Patton reveals what’s next for Iris, Barry and more. Warning: SPOILERS!
Barry’s trip through time had some pretty shocking repercussions. In the final moments of the season 3 premiere, we learned that Iris and Joe are estranged. Yes, the beloved father-daughter relationship that we love so much is no longer.
“Joe and Iris don’t have the relationship that we’re used to seeing, which is really difficult because we know the West family to be a very, very strong family unit,” Candice Patton told Mashable. “So as we move forward, we’ll see how strained that relationship has become because of the timeline being changed, and how that affects everyone else.”
Even though Joe and Iris aren’t in a good place, Barry and Iris’ relationship is solid. “Overall they are OK, and they still have the desire to create a relationship with each other, but things are changed and they’ll come to find out that there are parts of that final scene that we saw at the end of Season 2 with Barry and Iris that Iris doesn’t remember happening,” Candice continued. “I won’t say too much about what that is, but you find out that everything’s different and people’s memories are changed.”
In the episode after the premiere, Tom Felton’s character makes his first appearance! The synopsis for the episode reads, “Barry realizes he underestimated the effects of Flashpoint; after meeting his new co-worker, Julian Albert [Felton], Barry is surprised at the man’s immediate disdain for him.”
The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
