Jackie Kennedy was no ordinary woman. She was an extraordinary mother, role model and wife. The film Jackie, directed by Pablo Larraín, follows the beloved First Lady immediately after the devastating assassination of JFK on November 22, 1963.
The first trailer features glimpses of Jackie in her iconic pink as she arrives in Dallas, just hours away from watching her husband die right in front of her eyes. The movie doesn’t shy away from the tragedy, it faces what happened head on — in Jackie’s eyes. From JFK’s motorcade speeding away after the assassination to Jackie washing her husband’s blood off of her in the shower to attending his funeral, Jackie is a deeply personal account of the legendary woman.
“People like to believe in fairy tales,” Natalie’s Jackie says in the trailer. “Don’t let it be forgot that for one brief, shining moment there was a Camelot.” The words are lyrics from the musical Camelot. JFK loved the Richard Burton musical. “There wont be another Camelot,” Jackie continues. “Not another Camelot.”
The final image of the trailer is a haunting one. It’s of Jackie sitting on Air Force One as Lyndon B. Johnson is about to be sworn in as president.
The movie also stars Greta Gerwig as Nancy Tuckerman, Peter Sarsgaard as Bobby Kennedy, Max Casella as Jack Valenti, John Carroll Lynch as Lyndon B. Johnson, and Billy Crudup as an American journalist. Jackie will be released on Dec. 2.
