The only vice-presidential debate of the 2016 election is happening tonight, Oct. 4, and we’ve hooked you up with a live stream so you can watch Senator Tim Kaine and Governor Mike Pence square off from the comfort of, well, anywhere. WATCH the debate right here!
Sen. Tim Kaine, 58, and Gov. Mike Pence, 57, are Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump‘s running mates, respectively, and this is their time to shine. The 90-minute vice-presidential debate is happening tonight at 9:00 PM EST, and you can WATCH it live via the stream above! If you prefer to see it on TV, it’ll be broadcast on CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS, CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC for your viewing pleasure.
While no one can predict exactly which subjects the candidates will battle over tonight, political experts say that it’s likely the potential VPs won’t focus on themselves and their positions on certain issues; rather, they will go after their opponent’s presidential hopefuls. That means Kaine is going to attack various (already questionable) aspects of Trump’s platform, while Pence will do the same and try to take down Clinton.
“I’ve been in elected life for 22 years, it’s not knowing another fact, but it is about thinking hard about the material, thinking hard about Pence’s record, and also what Pence’s record would say about the guy who chose him, since it really is more about Donald Trump than it is about Gov. Pence,” Kaine has said about the debate. Sounds like he’s ready to rumble.
Finally, Elaine Quijano of CBS News is moderating the event, which takes place in Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Quikano will be the first Asian-American journalist to moderate a national debate, and at 42 years old, she’s also the youngest person in 28 years to do the job. Pretty cool!
