No more Mr. Nice Dad! Tim Kaine, the mild-mannered Democratic VP candidate, unleashed the fury on his rival, Mike Pence, during the vice presidential debate on October 4, and quoted Ronald Reagan to do it! It’s a side to Tim we’ve never seen before!
Well well, Tim Kaine! The vice presidential candidate dug hard into rival Mike Pence and his running mate, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, at the VP debate on October 4. The debate turned to the tough subject of war, and how a commander-in-chief would respond.
“Some fool or maniac could trigger a nuclear event. And I think that’s who Pence’s running mate is,” Tim said. Well damn! Tim had been going after Mike all night for everything and anything, pulling out zingers left and right (like calling him Trump’s “apprentice” — good one), but this one must have cut deeply; he was quoting beloved Republican president Ronald Reagan with that jab.
Reagan was speaking about the dangers of nuclear weapons in 1983, in the midst of the Cold War, and said that he feared that they could fall into the wrong hands and trigger “the kind of war that is the end of the line for all of us.” It definitely struck a chord with Mike. He responded that it was “even beneath you and Hillary.”
Tim has always been so calm and collected! His opposition to Mike was so great that he just apparently keep it together anymore! The Virginia senator, whom Hillary Clinton, 68, has selected as her running mate, has been called a “nice dad” by his supporters because of his lovable and, to be honest, sort of goofy, demeanor. He’s broken out his harmonica more than once on the campaign trail, done bad Trump impressions, and proudly shown off his Spanish language skills.
Hillary picked Tim to be her running mate because of his stellar political record and political prowess. He’s the polar opposite of the men she’s running against. As Hillary puts it, “Tim has been building bridges instead of walls his entire life.” Nice!
