Someone’s had a change of heart. After being totally slammed as a racist for supporting the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, Brody Jenner has issued an apology, pointing out that he was completely misinformed when he first commented on the subject. See his message here.
The Internet completely turned against Brody Jenner, 33, when he reposted a message that said the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, North Carolina wasn’t about race, and basically shot down the entire ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. Now, after becoming more educated on the subject, the former reality star has apologized with a new post, explaining what he’s learned.
“I want to address my careless and misguided posts last weekend,” Brody wrote on Instagram. “Having done more research into the Black Lives Matter movement, including reading a very informative editorial by @Imanisviney, I realize that my comments weren’t thoughtful or substantiated. I spoke out of turn on a subject I wasn’t particularly educated on. It was never my intention to exacerbate an already contentious situation in our country. I am a firm supporter of the African American community and I am grateful that my mistake allowed me the opportunity to increase my own awareness of Black Lives Matter, and hope that going forward we can continue this conversation in a positive and peaceful way.”
Last month, violent protests erupted in Charlotte after police shot and killed Keith, who was allegedly unarmed at the time. The governor of North Carolina eventually allowed the dash cam video of the shooting to be released, and there is no definitive evidence in the footage that he had a weapon on him. Charlotte went into a State of Emergency amidst the riots, and Keith’s family continues to insist that he was unarmed when he was shot.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Brody should be forgiven after this apology? Do you think he really means it?
