Don’t expect to spot Lionel Messi, 29, as he’s recovering from a groin injury, according to Yibada. He’s not expected to return until Oct. 19 when Barca takes on Manchester City in a Champions League matchup. The Trident is missing an important third, but Neymar, 24, and Luiz Suarez, 29, will have to pick up the slack when they take on Celta Vigo.
Samuel Umtiti, 22, is also out, following a knee injury. He’s reportedly expected to return on Oct. 15 for Barca’s match against Deportivo La Coruna, per SB Nation. Even when these two are back, manager Luis Enrique, 46, will be careful when playing them. Don’t expect to see Messi back at full force until well after his return.
As for Celta Vigo, the team opened up the sesaon with a three-game losing streak. Following a 0-0 draw with Osasuna, they won their next two matches. This limited success has left them in 12th place in La Liga. If Celta Vigo can somehow score on (arguably) the best team in the world, that alone would be as good as a victory. However, at the end of the game, expect Barcelona to score big and get closer to unseating Real Madrid from the top of the table.
Who do you think will win this match, HollywoodLifers? Barcelona or Celta Vigo?
