Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce could have a devastating impact on their children. HollywoodLife.com talked EXCLUSIVELY with an expert about the situation, who said that Brad and Angie’s oldest son, Maddox, could end up blaming himself for his parents’ split.
Dr. Gilda Carle, relationship expert and author of Don’t Lie On Your Back For A Guy Who Doesn’t Have Yours, says Maddox is in danger of assuming a lot of the blame and responsibility for his parents’ divorce since he was the one reportedly involved in the alleged physical altercation with Brad on the family’s private jet. The alleged incident is what reportedly prompted Angelina to file for divorce immediately.
“This is so typical of every child of divorce,” Dr. Carle told HollywoodLife.com. “They all want mommy and daddy to reunite. Sometimes children have a tendency to blame themselves. Especially with Maddox, who was the one allegedly being confronted by his father. This will weigh heavily, because he’s going to always question, ‘If I had behaved better,’ or ‘if I had not made Dad angry.’ He’s not going to factor in his parents’ previous problems. He is only going to see this one issue.”
HollywoodLife.com also told you EXCLUSIVELY that Brad and Angelina’s six kids, including Maddox, are devastated over the breakup. They really want Angelina to get back together with Brad so their lives can go back to normal. Angelina has temporary sole physical custody of the kids, with Brad getting visitation under the supervision of a therapist.
However, despite the nasty split, Angelina wants to keep things as civil as possible. As we previously reported, the Oscar winner doesn’t want Brad to be prosecuted by the police for alleged child abuse, according to TMZ. Brad is currently being investigated by the Department of Child and Family Services, but all Angelina wants is for her family to be safe and happy. She does not want Brad to have any legal trouble, and if police ask her to talk, she will refuse.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Maddox will take the divorce harder than any of the other kids?
