‘Power’: Angela Arrests Jamie In Season 3 Finale — Lela Loren Interview – Hollywood Life

‘Power’ Finale: Lela Loren On Angela’s Shocking Move & If A Reunion With Jamie Is Possible

The final moments of the 'Power' season 3 finale were absolutely jaw-dropping. HollywoodLife.com talked EXCLUSIVELY with Lela Loren about Angela's feelings after that game-changing decision, if there's hope for Jamie and Angela, what's next in season 4 and more!

Reading Time: 4 minutes

In that moment when Angela arrests Jamie, what is she thinking?
I think she’s feeling anger. I think she’s feeling confusion. I think she’s feeling guilt. Like, responsibility over Greg’s death and heartbreak. It’s that peace where part of her shame and her guilt around it and her anger both at him and at herself is… She knew what she was letting into her house. She kind of gave him enough rope to say, I’m going to trust you. Then he breaks up with her and it puts her in a very precarious situation. She still sort of protected him to protect herself. Because if he got caught for Lobos, she would also be implicated. And so, when she really believes that he killed Greg, all of a sudden, his villainy is right in her face. There’s a little piece of Angela that knows he’s murdered people, but he’s murdered bad guys, so that’s OK. So when she actually feels that he murdered Greg, it’s this horror of, because I let this go on, this innocent person was killed. That’s part of the reason she goes to the club at that point, at that night, and she goes herself. She did it it in one of the most public ways possible.

Angela arresting Jamie at the club was such a public thing to do — was that her way of getting back at him for the things he’s done?
It’s not necessarily getting back at him as much as you’ve lied, you’ve lied, you’ve lied. Now I’m going to expose you to as many people as possible. Because he’s all about image, and yet he’s corrupt at the core. There’s no integrity behind the image.

The moment Angela arrests Jamie brings everything full circle. The club is the same place Angela and Jamie reconnected…
The moment that they met is also going to be the moment of their reckoning.

Does Angela still love Jamie? What are her feelings now?
You know, I think that’s an unraveling thing at this point. At the moment, there’s just a lot of horror and shame. And then I think as we see on, complexity. I, at least, have known for myself that sometimes even when you discover something horrible about someone, there’s still kind of feelings for them. It makes you almost even angrier at yourself and almost makes you harder on yourself. Kind of like you’re a junkie.

Do you think Jamie and Angela could come back from this?
I think she would have to see Jamie redeem himself in a very, very real way. And there is something ultimately redemptive about being punished. Dostoyevsky’s Crime & Punishment is all about the redemptive aspect of paying for your crimes. So, it’s possible. The question is whether it’s within his character.

Greg is not actually the leak, but he’s framed for it. Is Angela just going to accept what everyone else is believing?
Angela is one of those people where, even though someone says it’s so, doesn’t mean she will buy into it. She knows instinctually that it doesn’t make sense.

Sandoval is actually the one connected to Lobos — will that unravel itself in season 4?
I guess we’ll have to see!

Do you know anything about season 4?
As an actor, what they do is they call you into the writers’ room, and they kind of give you your season arc, so you can start to prepare. I can say that season 4 picks up right where season 3 ends. And that we’ll get to see how all of the cliffhangers unfold.

Do you think Jamie will ever be able to leave behind the drug business for good?
I think that if he stops trying to be at the highest echelon status of money and wealth, I think he can leave it behind. But the problem is that he’s trying to leave this drug life behind and make a smooth transition to the same exact level. He wants it all. He’s not exactly shedding anything. He wants all of his shiny bright things, and that’s ultimately the issue.

Do you want to see Jamie and Angela together?
That piece of me that wants to find love myself, like that kind of burning, eternal love that we all know is like that Disney princess kind of love, is not necessarily real. It’s the reason why it’s such a main course in American storytelling. I would like to see it play out in a really authentic way. They would have to really grow and change on some level for that to happen. But yes, I would like to see them together.
