Shawn Mendes is giving the Biebs a run for his money! The singer stopped by the ‘Tonight Show’ on Sept. 22 and treated the audience to a HILARIOUS rendition of Justin Bieber’s hit single ‘Sorry.’ See the clip of him slaying the pop track here!
Shawn Mendes, 18, definitely wowed the crowd with his stellar Justin Bieber impression on the Tonight Show. The hunky singer stopped by as the musical guest on Sept. 22, but he also played a hilarious game called “fall songs.” Basically, viewers sent in lyrics they thought were funny via Twitter and the best ones were set to hit songs from A-list artists, such as the Biebs! We loved Shawn’s epic new rendition of “Sorry,” where he sang, “parents weekend coming up real soon, so I gotta hide my bong in my dorm room.” LOL! The cutest part was when Shawn blushed at the end, saying “Sorry Justin,” with a big smile on his face!
In case you forgot, Shawn and Justin were rumored to have a bit of animosity back in the day. The beef allegedly began during an interview with New York radio station 95.5 PLJ in Sept. 2015. The Biebs was asked if he wanted to give any advice to another up-and-coming artist — Shawn. While everyone expected Justin to reveal his secrets to making it big, he responded, “Who is Shawn Mendes?” Even though fans thought Justin was throwing shade, he cleared the air shortly after. He took to Twitter, writing, “Shawn I checked out [your] music and I’m so proud! So glad to see another boy from Canada crushin it.”
Meanwhile, Shawn has definitely come into his own! Not only did he slay his other impressions on the Tonight Show such as Coldplay‘s “Yellow” and Adele‘s “Hello,” but the singer-songwriter also performed his hit single “Mercy.” Shawn’s obviously a force to be reckoned with as he already earned his first No. 1 album by the age of 16, which is no easy feat! On top of that, he recently dropped his 14-track album Illuminate, which showcases his new, mature sound. Keep it coming!
