Oh, my gourd: pumpkin spice French fries are a thing. With Autumn comes the usual explosion of pumpkin spiced food and drinks, but this is a new one for us. Here’s everything you need to know about the crazy pumpkin-themed McDonald’s product!
This is not a drill: McDonald’s Japan has rolled out pumpkin spice French fries today, Sept. 22. Here are five things to know about the brand new menu item, officially known as “Halloween Choco Potato” fries!
1. The fries are the normal McDonald’s recipe.
The fries are the same basic ones we know and love, but the twist is that they’re drizzled with pumpkin and chocolate sauces. Hmm!
2. The company came up with these fries after the popularity of a similar product.
Inspired by the success of McDonald’s Japan’s chocolate-covered fries, which were available for a limited time, they threw pumpkin flavoring into the mix and came up with this concoction.
3. They’re here for a limited time only.
The fries are on the menu from September 28 through October 31 — just enough time for you to book a round-trip to Japan, right?
4. Fans are losing their minds over the pumpkin spice fries.
“Pumpkin spice fries? Y’all have no chill. I’m out,” one hater tweeted. Others are on board: “I only wish I had this idea. I also wish I had a plane ticket to Japan right about now,” lamented a pumpkin spice aficionado.
5. Not in Japan? McDonald’s has plenty of pumpkin items on tap in America.
Don’t worry — there are plenty of other options to float your pumpkin boat if you’re here in the US of A. The Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin and Creme Pie are available in select locations!
