Tegan and Sara have just rolled out the latest music video off their album ‘Love You To Death’, and it’s damn delightful. ‘Stop Desire’ features the sisters navigating a pastel-painted world filled with sexual innuendos that will make you smirk — WATCH here!
Tegan and Sara‘s new music video for “Stop Desire”, the second single from their new album, would make Wes Anderson proud. The sister act is amusingly stoic as they encounter a colorful laundromat, post office (don’t miss the Reggie Watts cameo) and market, surrounded by strangers doing sexual things with everyday objects. It’s incredible. WATCH above!
I’d be amiss if I didn’t bring up the clothing in this video. The twins are decked out in quirky outfits that, as Sara Quin puts it, makes her look “like Hugh Hefner throwing a party in Miami” and Tegan “like a futuristic gunslinger”. By the way, Sara’s blazer is mysteriously changed after a trip into the washing machine (see photos above), and I love it.
“The idea of having Sara and me live out a day in this strange and colorful world — where we remain straight-faced while encountering highly suggestive characters doing everyday things — really made us laugh,” Tegan said about the inspiration for the vid. “We wanted to marry the high-energy and colorful vibe of ‘Stop Desire’s’ production with the longing sexual undertones of the song’s lyrics.” Mission accomplished.
T&S are currently on their North American tour, and will be stopping in Los Angeles, New York and everywhere in between. Tix here!
