One fire was put put right away on the premiere of ‘Survivor: Millennials V Gen X.’ After an intense storm, and the first immunity challenge, the Gen X team lost and were torn on who to send home. HollywoodLife.com chatted with the first castoff exclusively following the episode.
HOLLYWOODLIFE: Do you regret offering to do the puzzle?
RACHEL ALKO: Oh totally. It was a couple day conversation leading up to it — no one but David was a fanatic in puzzles so I stepped up. I guess it would have been better to have sat back and just fly under the radar.
Do you think you would have been voted off if you hadn’t volunteered?
That’s a good question but I totally felt I was a target right away when CeCe and I got close. So I guess it was better to go out with a bang!
We didn’t see much of the storm. Take me through it!
I thought they evacuated us really late. When Jeff Probst announced it, immediately after he left, the wind got so much worse. It was so hard. I was pretending I wasn’t getting my ass handed to me. The sand felt like bullets being shot at us. The boat ride was awful. I was literally like, ‘Does CBS have control over this?’ Like how was it that right when Jeff leads us to safety — and his still hair still looks good — it gets horrible.
Where did you go?
They brought us to a room. On the way, I was excited, I thought we’d get a bed! Nope, it was a gutted room, and we slept on a concrete ground with no pillows. I think I’d rather die out in Fiji; just put me out there with the cyclone. It was a room where I felt like I needed to rock in place, and talk to myself!
When the theme was revealed to you as Gen X Vs Millennials, what was going through your mind?
I was like, I’m on the wrong mat. I’m gonna get my ass handed to me, and I could benefit from having young people. I wanted to raise my hand and ask if Zeke, the guy with the mustache, could switch with me! A lot of my tribe had kids, I was one of the few who didn’t have kids, and I felt them pairing off right away.
Would you do Survivor again?
My first question would be, ‘Jeff are you gonna put me on a Gen X tribe?’ Because if so, no. But yes, I’ve been a fan. I haven’t watched in a while. I loved watching Rob and Amber. I thought maybe I’ll find my Rob! My dad’s been a super fan since day one, so that’s all we used to talk about it.
Were you bummed to see Rachel, 37, go home?
