Expect the unexpected right? That was definitely the motto on of ‘Big Brother’ on Sept. 21, when Paul, Nicole, and James battled it out on the finale. So, after the half a million dollars was rewarded, we chatted with the winner about what went down in those final moments, the in-house partners, and what’s coming next.
You were shocked when Paul chose you and not James, right? What happened?
We had promised to take each other, probably an hour before the live show. We were in the London room, I was tearing up, and we both really respected each other. He still would have had my vote if he had cut me. I can always understand from a strategic point.
Take me through your final moments sitting next to Paul. Did you think you were going to win?
I thought I had a chance. The fact that I knew how smart and educated he was, he’s such a great speaker, scared me. The kid’s a genius — speaking next to him intimidated me quite a bit, and it was nerve racking. He’s just so good at arguing, and debating, and I get so nervous.
Da’Vonne shocked many by voting for you. Were you shocked at any of the votes?
I was shocked by [Da’Vonne], and I was a little shocked that James didn’t vote for me — but not that shocked. He does his own thing. I told Paul he had James’ vote, but I did think I’d get James’ vote before I got Da’Vonne’s!
Let’s talk about Corey. The running joke was you guys didn’t get to first base. Is there a romance there?
Were definitely friends right now. I don’t know where it’s gonna go, I know we have a really good bond and we will see. I have no idea right now.
Do you want it to be romantic?
I think we have feelings for each other — he’s a great guy, and I think the world of him! I’m not going to initiate anything, I’m just gonna kind of sit back!
One big storyline this season was Paulie and how he treated women. But you seemed aligned with him.
He and I had a great relationship. I was super close to Cody, so when it comes to drama and fight and personal crap, I just stayed out of it. I was hiding! I feel like there’s a lot of people that said a lot of things in that situation, but you don’t know how it is until you’re in the house. It’s such a pressure cooker. It’s hard to judge, and I don’t want to do judge. Who am I to judge when someone’s in their most vulnerable state? It’s hard — I was aligned with Paulie but I knew he was bringing my game down. But, I’m not someone who’s just gonna drop someone. I was gonna be there for him.
Do you plan on watching the season?
Yes! This season I can watch — I was too innocent and hurt to watch 16, but this time I played hard. I’m very curious to see how it all played out.
What was the first thing you did when you went home? Turn your phone on? Go on Twitter?
I don’t have my phone yet! I’m don’t care about that actually though, I’m just going to go and spend some quality time with my family, and go meet up with Corey and his mom.
Two seasons down – would you do Amazing Race or Survivor? Or return to Big Brother — and avoid a showmance.
I’d love to do Amazing Race, but I would never turn Big Brother down. And no showmance! That was my plan this time — I have no idea what happened! Never again.
Are you happy with Nicole winning Big Brother?
