Josh Gordon is no longer a wanted man! After an arrest warrant was issued for the Cleveland Browns wide receiver after failing to submit his DNA for a paternity test, the NFL player has finally complied with court orders! So it looks like Josh is in the clear — at least for NOW! Find out what we know here.
Well THAT took long enough! The arrest warrant for football player Josh Gordon, 25, was withdrawn after the Cleveland Browns star finally submitted his DNA for a paternity test per a year-old court order. Yes, a YEAR old. The warrant was issued on Aug. 31, but news broke of the warrant on Sept. 21. It was issued after Josh failed to respond to several subpoenas over the course of a year demanding he take the test.
And surprisingly enough, in a statement, Josh’s attorneys said he was unaware until noon on Sept. 21 that he had been requested to take the test in the first place. “Mr. Gordon immediately made himself available to the Court when he was informed that his presence had been previously required,” attorneys Kevin Spellacy and Walter Edwards wrote in a statement released by the Browns. “He attended court [Wednesday, Sept. 21] and a hearing was held.”
In addition to attending court on Sept. 21, Josh also submitted his DNA for a paternity test that same day, according to Joseph Stafford, the attorney for the woman claiming that Josh fathered her one-year-old daughter. A hearing has reportedly been set for Nov. 8. We’re not so sure we buy the claim that Josh never knew about the paternity suit though, and as it turns out, Joseph is totally on our same page.
The lawyer said that given the efforts made to get in touch with Josh and to contact people close to him — including the team, the NFL, and his own agent — it is “highly unlikely” Josh did not know about the paternity suit before Sept. 21. Looks like Josh may be trying to run away from something after all!
The paternity case, according to a report from Cleveland.com, involves an Ohio woman, reportedly named Christina Lockhart, who says that Josh is the father of her now one-year-old daughter. Christina filed her complaint on July 2, 2015 saying that no one else is presumed to be the father of her child. She is currently on public welfare and is seeking child support from Josh.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — do you think Josh is really the dad of this one-year-old girl?
