Patrick Dempsey met Rocky Parker in 1984, when he was just 18 years old, during a production of the play Brighton Beach Memoirs. He forged a relationship with the then-44-year-old actress, and they soon entered into an intense romance. They married when he was 21, and she was 47, and kept the marriage a secret for two years because of their extreme age difference; she had three children who were older than him!
Their marriage crumbled in 1992 after eight years together, according to Rocky, because Patrick allegedly cheated on her and left her for another woman; Rocky also claimed that the Bridget Jones’s Baby star viciously abused her! These details were discovered in their 1994 court papers, as seen by The Sun.
“While we were on the set of his movie Can’t Buy Me Love, he beat me up because he claimed he ‘wanted to see what it was like to beat up a woman!’ I now suffer from arthritis in my hand from where Respondent injured me. The physical abuse included Respondent breaking my finger when he rushed me to a van and closed the door on my finger,” Rocky wrote.

Those are some serious claims! The former Grey’s Anatomy star has repeatedly denied that this happened, and Rocky later retracted the domestic violence allegations altogether, as well as public claims that Patrick suffered from addiction. “In the heat of a divorce, sometimes people say things they normally wouldn’t. But the statements of physical and mental abuse, as well as alcoholism and drug use, are false,” she stated in 2006, a decade later.
Rocky sadly died in 2014 after battling lung and throat cancer; she was 74.
