Naeem Khan debuted his Spring 2017 collection at New York Fashion Week on Sept. 14, where he sent a vibrant collection down the runway. While embroidered caftans and full ball gowns, (style signatures of the designer!), were present, his inspiration for the show was visible as soon as the models emerged. The show opened with slinky, bias-cut gowns in shades of red, black and white, making it clear that he drew upon his time working for his mentor, Halston, in the 70s. It was a departure for the designer but the dresses were just as gorgeous as his more signature pieces emerged later in the show.
His attention to detail was visible in the fabrics and the materials he wove throughout the collection. For example, one personal highlight had to be the opaque glass fringe dresses that shimmied down the runway in vibrant hues of blue, red, and yellow.
Naeem’s show, an homage to the “effortlessly confident woman” is perfect for the A-listers who often don his dresses on the red carpet. In fact, with everyone from Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama to Katy Perry, Nina Dobrev and Jennifer Lopez in his looks, we can’t wait to see who suits up in the Spring 2017 collection first! Christina Hendricks was present at the show and stole the show in the front row, dressed in a pretty, black-and-white printed coat.
