It’s official. Nick Viall will be the next bachelor who will fight once again for love — and this time, he’s in the spotlight. So how did the current bachelor go from hated to loved?
We first met Nick Viall, the 35-year-old new bachelor, on Andi Dorfman‘s season and he came in second place to Josh Murray. He returned to the show midway through Kaitlyn Bristowe‘s season and asked her if he could join. She allowed it, and he came in second, again, this time to Shawn. He’s currently on Bachelor in Paradise and lost Amanda (again to Josh) and is having a fling with Jen… which clearly doesn’t work out.
Let’s rewind a bit — Nick was completely a villain during his first time on the show.
I’ll admit it. Nick wasn’t my favorite… or anyone’s during Andi’s season. He was super cocky and after losing, he went on After the Final Rose and told the world she had slept with him in the fantasy suites (to be fair, he wanted to know why she’d do that just to pick Josh). That was also rumored to be part of the reason Josh and Andi didn’t work; he couldn’t get over it. Then when Nick returned to Kaitlyn’s season, he came in late which annoyed the guys… Then slept with her before the fantasy suites. Clearly he wasn’t the guys’ favorites.
At the end of Kaitlyn’s season, you realized Nick really did just want to find love and he wasn’t a phony. Then he entered season three of Bachelor in Paradise, and in a way became the voice of reason. Even when Josh tried to cause issues, he took the higher road. He also didn’t seem jealous of Josh and Amanda, just actually concerned about her as a friend. He also was BFFs with Ashley I. and was one of the only ones who didn’t bash her but was honest with her when she was being ridiculous.
So overall, Nick seems like an honest, respectful man who is actually just looking to find his perfect match. He’s had a rough road but it’s very telling that he keeps coming back. Sure he may like the TV time, but being bachelor is also a long, taxing experience. And clearly he’s hoping it results in a wife.
If not, there’s always next season of Bachelor in Paradise, right?
